Carrot’s Predictions
- Monaco Grand Prix 2011 Winner – Mark Webber
- Monaco Grand Prix 2011 Pole Position – Mark Webber
- Monaco Grand Prix 2011 Fastest Lap – Fernando Alonso
- Other predictions – Two safety car periods
We return to Monaco this week for the glamour and uniqueness of its tight street circuit. I’m going for Mark Webber to repeat last year’s success, after his failure to lead from the start I think the Aussie will be out to firmly begin his championship charge. Ferrari look to have gained a lot of form in the last week, but we don’t know the relative fuel loads from practice. Felipe Massa still looks to be well off Fernando Alonso’s raw pace, the Spaniard could be a good outside bet for pole and the win.
Mark’s Predictions
- Monaco Grand Prix 2011 Winner – Sebastian Vettel
- Monaco Grand Prix 2011 Pole Position – Sebastian Vettel
- Monaco Grand Prix 2011 Fastest Lap – Fernando Alonso
In practice Ferrari look to have taken a step forward since last week, but we don’t know the relative fuel loads but I still can’t see beyond the World Champion. I fancy Sebastian Vettel to take the win and pole.
Euan’s Predictions
- Monaco Grand Prix 2011 Winner – Fernando Alonso
- Monaco Grand Prix 2011 Pole Position – Fernando Alonso
- Monaco Grand Prix 2011 Fastest Lap – Sebastian Vettel
- Other predictions – DRS will, like in Spain, not do much to aid overtaking.
Ferrari seem to have taken a major leap forwards for Monaco so that’s why I’m backing Fernando Alonso to bag his first win of the season. It will be interesting to see how effective DRS is at Monaco after it was found lacking in Barcelona, and I think that might still be the case at Monaco. Remember, this is also the first time we’ll see Pirelli’s supersoft tyres, and it will be interesting to see how they perform in relation to the soft tyres.
