F1 Blog’s Turkish Predictions

Carrot’s Predictions

  • Turkish Grand Prix 2011 Winner – Mark Webber
  • Turkish Grand Prix 2011 Pole Position – Sebastian Vettel
  • Turkish Grand Prix 2011 Fastest Lap – Lewis Hamilton
  • Other predictions – Felipe Massa to finish higher than Fernando Alonso at the race he’s won on three previous occasions

With Vettel having had a heavy crash in FP1, damaging three corners on the car, he lost all running in FP2 which means he’ll only have an hour of dry running at this track before things get serious. I think this will still be enough for him to claim pole, but not to have sufficiently fast race pace after the stops. I’ve gone with fastest lap for Hamilton given his pace after the stops in China, if he can find clear air the McLaren’s better ability to cope with a heavy tank will reward him. Massa needs to be beating Alonso here to begin to quash doubts about his ability to race for a top team.

Mark’s Predictions

  • Turkish Grand Prix 2011 Winner – Lewis Hamilton
  • Turkish Grand Prix 2011 Pole Position – Mark Webber
  • Turkish Grand Prix 2011 Fastest Lap – Lewis Hamilton
  • Other predictions – Michael Schumacher to have his best weekend since joining Mercedes.

Euan’s Predictions

  • Turkish Grand Prix 2011 Winner – Felipe Massa
  • Turkish Grand Prix 2011 Pole Position – Lewis Hamilton
  • Turkish Grand Prix 2011 Fastest Lap –Jenson Button
  • Other predictions – Mercedes to do well in qualifying but fall back in the race.

It will be another fascinating weekend of Formula 1, and this time I’m tipping Felipe Massa to finally come back to form at a track he used to be so good at. Ferrari have renewed hope after bringing an updated car to Istanbul, with Fernando Alonso recording the quickest time in a rain-hit P1. Any rain during the race or qualifying should make things interesting. McLaren look set to have another good Grand Prix with Red Bull no longer looking so unbeatable.
