Carrot’s Predictions
- Australian Grand Prix 2011 Winner – Mark Webber.
- Australian Grand Prix 2011 Pole Position – Mark Webber.
- Australian Grand Prix 2011 Fastest Lap – Sebastian Vettel.
- Other predictions – At least one of the Hispanias not to qualify due to the 107% rule.
The free practice has shown that Red Bull are still the class of the field. I’m tipping Webber over Vettel solely because of the high from racing in front of his home crowd. Ferrari seem to be the third fastest team with the radical McLaren coming in second fastest and Jenson Button heading the times in FP2. If you’re looking for a bet that isn’t one of the Red Bull drivers then Button might be your best bet with his light touch with the tyres coming back to reward him on race day. A single installation lap from HRT over both Friday sessions hasn’t impressed me, I’ll be surprised to see both of them in Sunday’s race, let alone make it to the end of the season.

Euan’s Predictions
- Australian Grand Prix 2011 Winner – Mark Webber to win at his home Grand Prix
- Australian Grand Prix 2011 Pole Position – Sebastian Vettel, the king of qualifying.
- Australian Grand Prix 2011 Fastest Lap – Fernando Alonso
- Other predictions – Sergio Perez will finish in the points in his first race in F1.
Well that was unexpected. After all the talk about McLaren struggling they come to Australia and record Friday practice’s fastest time. Of course, practice times aren’t always completely indicative of qualifying and race performance but this may well have given Red Bull and Ferrari a bit of a surprise. This weekend is shaping up to be a fascinating three-way shake up between Ferarri, McLaren, and Red Bull.
