Webber Dominant In Spain

Posted by Mark on May 9, 2010 | No Comments

Mark Webber won the Spanish grand prix today from Pole position. It was the 10th time in a row this race has been won by the pole sitter. Lewis Hamilton was unlucky not to finish 2nd after suffering a tyre failure on the penultimate lap. Hamilton passed Vettel after he suffered a slow pitstop. Vettel’s problems continued and he was forced to make an extra stop for tyres after he developed a problem. Vettel and Hamilton’s problems promoted local hero Fernando Alonso to 2nd, Vettel managing to limp home to 3rd. Schumacher finished in a seasons best 4th, with Championship leader Button 5th. Felipe Massa’s Ferrari took 6th, while Force India’s Adrian Sutil held off the Renault of Robert Kubica for 7th.

While it was not the most entertaining of Grand Prix, the result has tightened an already close drivers championship. Button remains in the lead but only by 3 points from Alonso with Vettel and Webber just behind.
