Lewis Hamilton drove an excellent race from 20th on the grid, to finish 6th, overtaking eight cars on the first lap! Robert Kubica put in a great performance, jumping up to f4th place at the start and holding that place until the finish, while Adrian Sutil’s strong drive for Force India was rewarded with 5th.
Alonso drove a good race until his engine let go. He had battled with a gear selection problem and had made good progress often matching the leaders for pace. His team mate Felipe Massa finished 7th.
Lucas di Grassi managed to give Virgin Racing its first finish, despite having a fuel tank which isn’t large enough, by leaning the engine out and slowing down in the closing laps. While both Hispania cars made it to the finish, along with Jarno Trulli’s Lotus.
