F1 is back for the 2013 season!

Carrot’s Predictions

Australian Grand Prix 2013 Winner – Mark Webber
Australian Grand Prix 2013 Pole Position – Sebastian Vettel
Australian Grand Prix 2013 Fastest Lap – Kimi Raikkonen

The Red Bulls seem to be starting strong, along with Mercedes AMG and Team Lotus, so I expect this weekend to be contested between those three teams. I’m giving the edge to the Red Bulls for the the top positions, but the fastest lap to Lotus for their long run pace. Mercedes could threaten in the race, but they have to last to the chequered flag with their current mechanical gremlins. However the form for the rest of the season is as clear as mud.

As far as I am concerned it will be business as usual for Red Bull and World Champion Sebastian Vettel. I expect him and his team, Red Bull to dominate the weekend.

Red Bull have looked fast in free practice so it is hard to look past them, certainly in qualifying, and I think in the race too. As a result I’m going for Sebastian Vettel to take the first pole and race win of the season. One surprise from practice has been the pace, or lack of pace, from McLaren. It will be interesting to see how they do in qualifying and the race itself. If McLaren do remain a little off the pace then I would expect a three-way battle for the podium between Lotus, Ferrari, and Mercedes.
